Matteo Scardellato | Registered Psychotherapist in Hamilton Ontario
About Me
I worked outside for twenty years with my hands, alongside all kinds of people who shared their stories with me. I also studied at the University of Toronto, until I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Literature. When I trained as a therapist, I wove these experiences together.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Graduate Therapist of the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy. I have been practicing psychotherapy with individuals since 2020.
My main approach is Relational Psychotherapy, which is trauma-informed and incorporates elements of attachment theory, mindfulness, neuroscience, intersubjectivity and self-psychology. Some areas I specialize in are grief, men’s issues and ADHD.
Another approach that is central to my work is Narrative Psychotherapy: I have always been interested in the stories we humans tell to make sense of our often confusing and (increasingly) overwhelming world.
What story have you been telling to make sense of yourself? I’m curious to explore that narrative with you; to understand how it has served you, and to comprehend the ways in which it might contribute to suffering. Is this the timeline you imagined living through, or have things taken a turn? I’m a firm believer that people can reshape and redirect the story of their lives when they invite others to explore that narrative with them.
I think the most important thing about starting therapy is finding the right therapist, whatever that means for you. If you’d like to know more about how I practice, you can contact me here to book a no-charge Initial Consultation.
